Watch: The most unpopular man in Wales is pelted with beer by irate Wales fans

This is the moment the pitch invader who ran onto the field of play potentially obstructing a Wales try in the match against South Africa was pelted with beer by irate Welsh fans.

On 63 minutes with the game tied at 15-15 and Wales in the ascendancy, Liam Williams had a chance to score on the wing, but looked to have been hampered by the intruder who had run on to the pitch.

Dubbed the 'the most unpopular man in Wales' by rugby supporters who took to social media to condemn his actions, he was quickly removed by security and booed by the entire Principality Stadium. He was then pelted with beer as he was led away by stewards.

South Africa went on to win the game 23-18 in a thrilling encounter, but the actions of the drunken fan remained a huge talking point.

Former Wales and Lions centre Jamie Roberts, appearing as a pundit for Amazon Prime Video, questioned security at the Principality Stadium.

"I'm sure security are going to have a look at that," he said. "You cannot have fans coming onto the field during play.

"Whether Liam goes on to score that, I'm not quite sure, the pass is behind him anyway but that is just outrageous.

"I know a fan got on during the All Blacks line-up during the anthem last week, and that's happened again this week so, they have to look at that because it's unacceptable at this level."

In a statement issued after the game Principality Stadium manager Mark Williams said: "We condemn this type of behaviour in the strongest possible terms.

"He was intercepted and immediately escorted from the stadium and handed over to South Wales Police."
