Watch: Shock at appearance of Welsh England supporters on BBC news

Welshmen supporting England appear on BBC news

There you are eating your paella, swotting up on your Spanish, and listening to the greatest hits of Enrique Inglesias when you look up at the TV and can't quite believe what you see.

There, draped in England flags, are two Welshmen declaring their undying love for the England football team ahead of the European Championship final against Spain in Berlin.

Appearing on the BBC national news they told a shocked interviewer, who can't quite believe her eyes, 'always Wales in rugby, England in football'.

Wales fan and X user Huw Mellor spotted this unfortunate sight and of course he did the only thing any self-respecting Welshman would do - he recorded it and posted it on the social media platform with the message:

"Was just watching @BBCNews and nearly spat my rice crispies….couldn’t believe what I was seeing…👀

"I want these two found…named…shamed…and immediately drummed out of the country."

In response many Welsh fans felt the same demanding that they are identified and immediately banished from Wales!

I was thinking that as well - could be a number of reasons e.g. a football following parent from England. Perhaps it is something like the 'Twin Town' director KEvin Allen, with a mixed regional and familial upbringing, and ending up back in Wales - ultimately, with his allegiance going to Cymru in the Rugby, and to England in the pel droed ! :)

1282: Statute of Rhuddlan i think (off the top of my head anyway)

1536 was when the 'Laws in Wales Acts' began to amalgamate Wales and England legally. 1282 was roughly when the conquest of Wales was completed and the English crown was in full control.

Such ridiculous tribalism. As a Cardiff City follower I'd be happy to support Swansea if they were the only Welsh team left in the Champions League. And, in the absence of Wales, I was more than happy to lend England my wholehearted support in the Euros (as were so many of my Welsh friends- I don't know what planet you guys live on!!) It's only a game people. When England lose it won't bring Llewelyn back. They won't think 'ah, wasn't it a shame we took all that water from Dryweryn?' It's a game. Nothing more. Chill people. Chill.
