Watch: Embarrassing gaffe as Boris Johnson calls for Ukraine to host Euro 2028 Finals

Boris Johnson has called for Ukraine to host the Euro 2028 finals, apparently forgetting he has backed a joint bid by Wales, Scotland, Ireland and England to stage the tournament.

Speaking at a NATO summit in Brussels just hours after the UK and Ireland bid was submitted, the Prime Minister endorsed a suggestion for the finals to be held in Ukraine in response to Russia submitting a last-minute application to host the finals.

The bid by the football associations of Wales, Scotland, Ireland and England was expected to be awarded the finals later this week as no rival applications had been submitted until Russia’s last-ditch pitch was confirmed.

Today was the final deadline for bids to be submitted by potential hosts.

Beyond satire

Asked whether the Euros should be awarded to Russia, Mr Johnson told Sky News: “The idea of Russia holding any kind of football tournament or any kind of cultural event right now is beyond satire. I can’t believe that anybody would seriously consider their suggestion.

“And, yes, I think that the best thing possible would be for the entire Russian armed forces to retire forthwith from Ukraine and hand the tournament to them, of course.”

Uefa chiefs are expected to dismiss the Russian bid, and an expression of interest in the 2032 tournament at a meeting tomorrow.

Uefa issued a statement saying it could “reassess the legal and factual situation as it evolves and adopt further decisions as necessary, including in light of the declaration of interest expressed by the Russian Football Union for hosting the Uefa Euro”.

70% of people will benefit from income tax cut in 2024 is ominous indeed. Today 42% don't pay any income tax because they are paid slave wages. The reprobate will say anything and then deny it and the lickspittle grovelers in the media will let him. They must be laughing themselves senseless in Brussels.

If they are going to cut income tax theyll need to make up the lost revenues in taxation from somewhere else. No prizes for guessing where that 'somewhere else' will be? They'll take an axe to the welfare state just like the UK Tory govt did under Thatcher in the 80s

But what will it take for people of Wales & Britain to realise the mammoth mistake they made when they put their lives & children's future in the hands of this corrupt adulterer and pathological liar Boris Johnson?. My only hope is that one day the Welsh people will finally awake from its British brainwashed stupor and realise that the Anglocentric English Conservative, Liberal Democrat & Labour parties at Westminster will never have Wales interests at heart, who will continue to feather England's nest while tossing with contempt Wales the bones off the Unionist table.

He jumped around like a fool trying to stand next to President Biden at the photo-call and then couldn't even fasten his jacket. I don't know who's worse....Johnson or those gullible enough to vote for him. He didn't even realise that Biden had snubbed him. Before Brexit Britain was part of the leading triumvirate of European nations.....now President Macron leads Europe and the UK is an American afterthought and mini-state.

Just what Ukraine need right now, high expense of a football tournament. Why not the Olympics next. Less this idiot speaks in life, the better for everyone. His media team are not doing a good job of keeping his mouth in check again.

Boris Johnson says what he thinks people want to hear, if that makes him look foolish on times, it is a price he is willing to pay, because when get gets it right, he ends up winning big time, UK PM being a case in point, looking like a clown is worth it for him.
