Wales World Cup football legend finds wedding ring of teammate's wife in Welsh cake

When Cliff Jones was enjoying a Welsh cake baked for him by the wife of former Wales and Tottenham Hotspur teammate Terry Medwin - he certainly didn't expect to find a wedding ring when he bit into it.

However, lucky he did as this amazing find was the wedding ring belonging to Joyce Medwin, the wife of Terry - Cliff's former Wales international teammate, both of whom played in the last Welsh side to qualify for a World Cup, in Sweden in 1958.

Cliff had met up with Terry Medwin and fellow Spurs teammate Terry Dyson - all three members of the historic Spurs title and FA cup winning side of 1961 - at the Tottenham Hotspur v Leeds game on the weekend.

Receiving the gift of Welsh cakes from Terry Medwin's wife, Cliff was not expecting the extra gift that was baked inside one of the cakes.

Taking to Twitter, Cliff, 86, wrote: "Joyce Medwin, wife of Terry was telling us yesterday how she had lost her beloved wedding ring, a few days ago. Tonight was just enjoying the homemade Welsh cakes she made for me when suddenly !! #luckyfind"

Cliff, who was a wing wizard for Wales has now been dubbed a ring wizard after his lucky find.

We're sure his teammate Terry Medwin, 89, will be made up for his wife at the discovery of the wedding ring - as precious as the game-winning goal he scored at the 1958 World Cup which sent Wales through to the quarter-finals.

He was the last player to score for Wales in the finals of a major tournament, until Gareth Bale scored in Wales' opening game of UEFA Euro 2016.
