Nigel Farage accused of 'showing his true colours' after calling Welsh people ‘foreign speakers’

This should be the first story on all Welsh news programmes today - a prospective Prime Minister calling Welsh speakers foreigners. Imagine if Rhun ap Iorwerth or Eluned Morgan called English born people living in Wales "foreigners"? I have no doubt the BBC and ITV would be all over it - let alone the Daily Mail and GB News.

Nigel Farage's remarks about the Welsh language being "foreign" is deeply insulting but what else would you expect from this mule. The Welsh language is an integral part of not only Wales’ heritage but the whole of Britain with roots that date back over two thousand years.

If any language is foreign in the UK it's English for Welsh was spoken on this island about a millennium before English emerged from Anglo-Saxon (11th - 12th Century). Thanks to the Normans it then incorporated between 7,000 and 10,000 words that were either French or modified French words (verifiable via Google). It's probably the most mongrel language in the world.

I was in a bar in Pontyclun a few days ago and heard a group of women saying, very loudly, how they d be voting Reform and how they hated Plaid Cymru and all that Welsh language tosh. They then went on to complain about choose your language option on the phone, which is just a way of jumping the queue and the fact you'll get preferential treatment for a council house if you speak Welsh.
