City’s rubbish problem a ‘disgusting start’ to New Year

Some people have zero respect for their community. You see it daily where you see people throwing or dropping fast food cartons with a bin in plain sight or those placing beer cans on walls or smashing bottles in the street. Emptying cigarette butts from their cars or throwing plastic E-Cigarettes or laughing gas bottles used in the catering industry thrown like confetti everywhere. Absolutely disgusting. Sadly I fin even see council refuse workers who collect plastic & paper recycle often break black bags emptying the contents all over the street then go on their merry way with no attempt to clean up the mess caused. Not sure if they have no respect, are on a time limit to collect refuse, or both. Not a very good example to set. Also, I know for a fact that in affluent areas it's said that refuse collectors of they drop litter stop their truck and pick up any rubbish spilt onto the streets but not in areas deemed poor. Looks as if there's a two tier system where it's acceptable to leave rubbish spilt in deprived areas but not rich. Sad really. I thought all areas be they rich or poor pay council tax and deserve the same service. Yes, there are signs saying "No littering with a threat of a fine" by local authorities but like those who walk their dogs that foul the pavements ignore those warnings. Another factor is lack of bins. Where so live cannot find a waste bin anywhere? Years ago there were concrete bins placed usually on main roads and at the end of streets. Often they were either vandalised or left to overflow but for some reason slowly disappeared. There used also to be adverts on TV promoting " Keep Britain Tidy". You don't see those anymore? We need to educate both young & old to respect not only our communities but Wales. Take Japan. They have such a respect of their environment. You don't see any rubbish on their streets. And I know if any rubbish found on Japanese streets strangers will pick up litter dropped and place it in bins. And football fans often stay behind after matches to clean the stadium. Can you imagine similar here. I think not. I wish Wales showed such deference to their country & environment as those in Japan do. We'd be the better for it. .
