Watch: Superstar owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds attend their first Wrexham game

Wrexham's new superstar owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have attended their first game.

The club, now 11th in the standings, are back on the road against Maidenhead United at York Road in the National League this evening.

It's the first game Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have attended since they announced their high-profile takeover of the club in February of this year. Covid-19 restrictions have previously made a visit difficult.

There is speculation that the Deadpool and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star will make their first appearance at the football club's Racecourse ground this weekend.

Wrexham will line up against Torquay United on Saturday. In recent weeks a new viewing platform for the owners, fit with plush padded seats, has been built into the Macron stand, which has fuelled talk of their impending trip.

It is understood that Reynolds and McElhenney have been determined to make their first visit together, rather than individually. But it has proven difficult thus far due to their schedules.

Last week Reynolds last week announced that he is taking a sabbatical following conclusion of filming upcoming Christmas film Spirited. McElhenney also finished with season 15 of his show It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and it is believed that this has created a gap to enable them both to visit at the same time.

Wrexham AFC had previously declined to comment on the visit.
