Video: A closer look at Ceredigion as Plaid Cymru and the Lib Dems do battle

By NationCymru

Nation.Cymru Editor Ifan Morgan Jones takes a look at the constituency of Ceredigion.

In 2017 there were only 104 votes in it as the seat flipped from the Liberal Democrats's Mark Williams to Plaid Cymru's Ben Lake. Who will be victorious this time?

A few points. Fife North East is another Nationalist / Liberal Democrat super marginal with the SNP having a majority of 2 over the Liberal Democrats in 2017. It has been estimated that in 1979 under the current boundaries, Ceredigion would have voted Conservative by possibly the same margin as Plaid won the seat by in 2017. Using the national REMAIN / LEAVE split across the UK averaged on a seven day moving average I believe that it's too close to call (less than 5% majority) between the Lib Dems and Plaid Cymru with the Conservatives third on 21% of the vote, Labour fourth on 10%, the Brexit Party on 7% and the Greens within a whisker of creating six party politics in Ceredigion for the second time in four years.
